ST. JAMES–Residents throughout the Meramec Region may be eligible for up to $10,000 in grant funding for home repairs through the Meramec Community Enhancement Corporation (MCEC).

MCEC, a 501©3 that works in partnership with Meramec Regional Planning Commission, has been awarded a grant for housing renovation projects in the region by the Missouri Housing Trust Fund (MHTF) and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

The grant program is geared toward low-income homeowners and allows qualifying homeowners to make home repairs and improvements, creating safer, healthier homes.  Eligible repairs may include furnace and air conditioning replacement, weatherization improvements, roofing, electrical work, ADA accessibility improvements and flooring.

In addition to the homeowner meeting income guidelines based on county and household size, the property must be a single-family residence with all property taxes paid, and current property insurance is required. Individuals who have previously received home repair grant funds from MCEC are not eligible.

For more information or a pre-application, contact Maria Bancroft at 573-265-2993 or mbancroft@meramecregion.org. Pre-applications can also be found at www.meramecregion.org.

MCEC is a 501(c)3 non-profit that works closely with MRPC to address issues in the region and secure funding that can only be accomplished through a non-profit. The board, which meets quarterly, contracts with MRPC to deliver its programs.

Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. A professional staff of 23, directed by the MRPC board, offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
