Hermann girls improve to 15-0, open tourney with 76-16 win

Hermann’s top-seeded girls opened play in the 14th annual invitational basketball tournament at the high school Monday night, taking an easy 76-16 win over Wright City.
After the Lady Bearcats took a 28-2 lead at the quarter, Coach Todd Anderson went to his bench in the second 8-minute period and used an entirely different lineup.
The score was 46-10 at the half, then Hermann outscored the Lady Wildcats 22-2 in the third quarter. The starters’ night was over, and the reserves took over in the fourth quarter with a continuous running clock.

Jamie Gleeson led Hermann with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Karinne Lane tossed in 14 points, had eight steals and five assists.
Kirsten Leimkuehler added 11 points and Tesla Ruediger chipped in 10 for the Lady Bearcats, who improved their record to 15-0.
Hermann will play St. Clair in the semifinals Wednesday night at 6 o’clock at the high school gym. St. Clair, the No. 5 seed, sent Chamois, the No. 4 seed, to the loser’s bracket after whipping the Pirates, 45-38, on Monday night. In other first round games Monday at the middle school, No. 3 New Haven got past No. 6 Warrenton, 55-40, and No. 2 seed Owensville walloped Montgomery County, 78-27.
