The Gasconade County Historical Society will host its first quarter membership meeting on Sunday, February 9, at 2:00 pm at the Gasconade County Courthouse in Hermann.
Members and the public are invited to a special program commemorating the start of World War I 100 years ago.
Guest speaker Claire Marks will present, “Over There: Missouri and the Great War”, a program resulting from a statewide digitization project whose goal is to document the involvement of Missourians both at home and abroad during World War I.
Marks has researched Gasconade County’s involvement, visiting the Archives & Records Center in Hermann and WWI exhibits at the Gasconade County Historical Society Museum in Owensville.
A short business meeting will proceed the presentation and refreshments will be served after.
This will be a great afternoon focused on our history, held at the historic courthouse and an opportunity to learn about WWI and the search for and documentation of Missouri’s service in the Great War.
The general public is welcomed, and there is no admission charge or reservations required.
