Hermann Student Attends MU Biochemistry Careers Tour
By Diamond Dixon
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Kyle Stiers, Hermann, was one of 14 undergraduate students chosen to attend the educational career tour hosted by the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR).
The tour, which took place Jan. 8-9, connected students with career opportunities in the biochemistry field. Students networked with MU biochemistry department alumni and met industry partners and employers during stops at Monsanto, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, Sensient Colors and Sigma-Aldrich.
“Going on the tour was a great professional opportunity to gain experience and network,” Stiers said. “It is an honor to be selected by the biochemistry department to participate. This opportunity provided me with valuable knowledge and experience as well as contacts in the biochemistry industry that can help me achieve my career goals and provide insight into a career in biochemistry.”
Stiers, a senior biochemistry student at MU, graduated from Hermann High School in 2010. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and Alpha Chi Sigma, a professional chemistry fraternity at MU. He is the son of Randy and Susan Stiers.
MU is the largest and oldest public university west of the Mississippi River and is the flagship university for the state of Missouri.
