Hermann girls play South Callaway Wednesday night in semifinals of district tournament

The top-seeded Hermann girls (23-1) will play South Callaway in the semifinals of the Class 3 District 6 basketball tournament Wednesday at Hermann. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
The district at Hermann High School got started Monday night, with South Callaway’s girls taking a 67-51 win over Winfield on the strength of Taylor Howard’s 35 points. The senior guard scored 17 of those points in the fourth quarter. Hannah Oberdiek added 14 for the Lady Bulldogs.
Marko was Winfield’s high scorer with 23 points, and Tippitt added 11.
In other games Monday night, No. 2 seed North Callaway rolled past Wright City, 53-24, and third-seeded O’Fallon Christian defeated Montgomery County, 56-24.
The Hermann girls drew a first-round bye and did not play on Monday.
North Callaway’s girls are now 19-6 record, with two of those losses coming at the hands of Hermann. The Lady Bearcats’ lone setback this season was at home to St. James.
North Callaway took a 25-7 lead at the half against Wright City and was never threatened.
Brinker led a balanced North Callaway offense with 13 points.
O’Fallon Christian had no trouble with Montgomery County, taking a 16-6 lead at the quarter and 31-13 halftime lead.
Voepel led Christian with 14 points and Parker added 12. Ash scored seven points to lead Wright City.
