Hermann will play North Callaway for the Class 3 District 6 girls basketball title on TONIGHT at Hermann High School. Tip-off will be at 7 o’clock.
The Lady Barcats (24-1) are the No. 1 seed in the tourney and the Lady Thunderbirds are the No. 2 seed. They met twice earlier this season, with Hermann winning both contests. The first meeting, at Hermann, was won when Karinne Lane hit a 30-footer at the buzzer after Hermann stole an in-bounds pass. Hermann also defeated North Callaway in the championship of the South Callaway Tournament in January.
The Lady Bearcats won their district semifinal game Wednesday night , 66-28, against South Callaway. In the second game, North Callaway defeated O’Fallon Christian by 17 points.
Jamie Gleeson scored 20 of her game-high 24 points in the first half Wednesday to power the Hermann girls to a 41-22 halftime lead.
The Lady Bearcats hit eight 3-pointers in the game.
Karinne Lane, Kali Stiers and Tesla Ruediger each added 12 points for the Lady Bearcats, who won last year’s district championship at North Callaway.
Taylor Howard scored 23 of South Callaway’s 28 points Wednesday night but was limited to four in the second half when her team scored just six points.
