The Webster University women’s basketball team opened its season with a 70-51 win over Dominican University of Illinois in the Cavallo Tip-Off Tournament at Grant Gymnasium on Nov. 15. Ashley Brooks, a junior point guard from Hermann, had 20 points to lead the Gorloks in the victory.     Hermann’s boys and girls basketball teams both opened their seasons on the road Monday night, and both came away with non-conference wins. The Bearcats, marking the return of head coach Tim Wenkel, defeated Northwest of Cedar Hill, 52-44.     Hermann High School graduates Jake Schannuth and Jamie Gleeson have made the starting lineups for their respective basketball teams. Schannuth, a 6-5, 230-pound sophomore, is playing small forward for the No. 4-ranked (NAIA) Kansas Benedictine Ravens.
