I saw Kevin “soup” Stiers last week and he reminded me that January was his month. What? His birthday? No, January is traditionally the month we eat soup, so he has adopted it as his own. I rolled my eyes. Happy MONTH, Soup. Speaking of soup, have you entered the “best soup” contest? We have several entries so far. After the contest we will print all the recipes. If you

Chevy enthusiasts be warned: Downtown Hermann will be sporting a lot of blue ovals the third weekend of May. The Blue Oval Rally — “blue oval,” as in the Ford logo — is set for Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23 in Hermann. And don’t expect to see just cars and trucks. A few tractors might make their way into town, as well. “Anything with a Ford logo,” said Midwest Blue Oval Club

Hermann senior Tesla Ruediger at the free-throw line earlier this season. She went 8-for-10 at the line Monday night.

It was a game with some big numbers: A lot of turnovers committed by Hermann, a lot of shots from the free-throw line and a lot of fouls posted by both teams. But despite those negative numbers, the only number that counted was on the positive side of the ledger for Head Coach Todd Anderson’s Varsity Lady Bearcats, who Monday night topped South Callaway 44-40 in opening-round action of the

Executive Director Steve Campbell noted last week in the January newsletter that eMagazines and eMusic will

  • Blair Oaks surges past Hermann Bearcats

Posted on December 23, 2014 at 2:40 pm

Hermann guard Garrett Leimkuehler brings the basketball up the court Monday night against a Blair Oaks defender.

The only defense that would have been effective against Blair Oaks Monday night likely would have been a player 8 feet tall. Unfortunately, Hermann doesn’t have one of those. So there was little the Varsity Bearcats could do to fend off the barrage of 3-point bombs unleased by the visiting club, which claimed the non-conference contest 75-49. Blair Oaks dropped 10 — count ‘em, 10 — 3-pointers through the hoop
