Blue Oval organizers pleased with inaugural event in Hermann

Local organizers of the Midwest Blue Oval Club Rally and Car Show in Hermann this past weekend are pleased with the turnout, even though it was smaller than they had hoped for. Greg Howe, one of the local Blue Oval organizers, said the group is optimistic turnout will be larger as the event becomes a regular attraction in the Hermann community.

    As noted in recent weeks in the Hermann Advertiser-Courier, The Show Boat Theatre has launched a fund-raising campaign to purchase a digital projector and renovate the building’s infrastructure. The first contribution came from The Hermann Arts Council with a $1,500 grant. That was followed by a few private contributions and, more recently, The Bluff Tones performed and the Jaycee’s sold beer and food in the Amphitheater to raise even more

    The Midwest Blue Oval Rally in Hermann kicks off Thursday and runs through Saturday. Organizer Greg Howe said there are plenty of activities for the whole family. Residents along the show route will need to move their cars from the streets by 6 a.m. on Saturday, Howe said.   • VFW Memorial Day service set for Hermann City Cemetery

    The annual Memorial Day service wil be presented by Hermann VFW Post 4182 and the Ladies Auxiliary Monday at 9 a.m. at Hermann City Cemetery. The Color Guard will lead the Memorial Day Parade from the Old Firehouse down Market Street (Highway 19 South) and turn left at Casey’s General Store and move up the hill to the cemetery. The event will be joined by Hermann Boy Scouts Troop 116
