It was a performance to remember — Trent Anderson scoring 31 points, working inside the lane battling Wright City’s big men and doing it all with four fouls.
It was a game to forget — despite Anderson scoring almost twice as many points as Wright City’s leading scorer, and an 11-point performance by Chet Moeckli, the Varsity Bearcats dropped the non-conference contest Thursday night, 53-52.
The loss bumps the Varsity squad down to 3-6 on the season going into Frday night’s game on the road against the Belle Tigers.
The team’s next action will be Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Washington.
Anderson dropped in 13 field goals and went 5-for-9 at the free-throw line.
Joining Anderson and Moeckli in scoring were Rhet Scheidegger with 8 and Aaron Overkamp with 2.
The JV contest was a 2-point affair with Wright City using a 15-point 4th quarter to edge the Bearcats 39-37.
Leading Head Coach Larry Faerber’s Bearcats club were Chase McKague and Carter Hemeye, who both scored 8 points.
Other ‘Cats joining in the scoring were Boyd Phillips with 6, Luke Bader with 5, Holden Ash and Marcus Eldringhoff with 3 points each and Dalton Gleeson and Ethan Towery with 2 each.
