Bearcats’ Hackmann pitches a beauty in 1-hitting St. Clair

Hermann senior Kody Hackmann was masterful on the mound last Thursday, pitching the Bearcats to their third straight win, a 9-1 Four Rivers Conference victory over the St. Clair Bulldogs.
The win closed out the 4-game homestand for the Bearcats and upped the team’s season mark to 5-6 going into yesterday’s scheduled game at South Callaway.
Hackmann worked 6 2/3 innings and picked up 6 strikeouts while giving up only 1 hit. He faced only 28 batters.
Freshman Chase McKague finished up the contest, getting the only hitter he faced to fly out to the shortstop for the final out of the game.
Head Coach Wayland McKague’s club posted 9 hits in the contest with senior Hunter Scheidegger and Chase McKague each collecting two hits.
Scheidegger tallied 3 RBIs in the game while senior Matt Wade drove in 2 runs.
Gunner Krull, the ‘Cats’ designated hitter, went 1-for-3 in the game with his hit being a double and driving in a run.
The hits were spread among the Bearcats. In addition to Krull, other ‘Cats getting into the hit column included:
Chase Racherbaumer, 1-for-2 with a run scored; McKague, 2-for-4 with a run scored and 1 RBI (one of his hits was a double); Wade, 1-for-3 with a run scored and 2 RBIs; Chet Moeckli, 1-for-4 with a run scored; Trent Anderson, 0-for-3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI; Aaron Overkamp, 1-for-2 with a run scored; Scheidegger, 2-for-3 with a run scored and 3 RBIs; and Trent Oberg, 0-for-3 with a run scored.
After the South Callaway trip, the Bearcats are scheduled to return to Dick Ochsner Ball Park tomorrow,Thursday, to take on Sullivan in another FRC contest at 4:30 p.m.
On Friday and Saturday, Hermann is scheduled to take part in the Linn Tournament.
