Monday late in the morning, the sirens went off in Hermann. Saturday the sirens went off in Hawaii. One was a mistake. One was testing. After the mistake, the testing ran a shiver down my spine. The mayor said he wanted to see who could hear the sirens. In case a mistake was made? Better safe than sorry!
Berlin’s “International Green Week” is this week in Germany. It is an exhibition of food, agriculture and gardening. It has an international display of fresh produce, seafood, meat and sausages, wine and beer, teas, flowers and more. Let’s go! The temperature in Berlin is a balmy 40 degrees. OK, maybe not. Let’s just stay home and enjoy our 17-degree weather.
With weather in the teens, I think we would all do well to go to the VFW for chili this Friday. That sounds delicious. See the ad and see you there!
The Hermann Police Department told me that people (for the most part) are doing a good job keeping their pets out of the weather. Great job, Hermann!

So are you still dreaming? You know what I’m talking about. Your garden! The roses, tomatoes, herbs and bush or climbing green beans that fill your cold days with excitement for spring. Even if you don’t follow through with your goals, this is a favorite winter pasttime so dream on!
Key West is in the mid-70s with rain, same for Los Angeles,. The coldest place in the U.S. right now is in upper New York with two towns hitting 36 below! I told you it was balmy in Germany. We may need to reconsider our visit.

One more weather statement. Do not, under any circumstances, go to your car on an icy day with a cup of coffee in your hand, purse on your elbow, lunch bag next to the purse on your elbow, ice scraper in the other hand, a dog at your feet, car keys in your mouth and your favorite pair of pants on. This scenario will guarantee a slip on the ice, coffee spilling on your favorite pants, ice scrapper flying, the dog licking your face and your bottom on top of your lunch bag. This did not happen to me on Monday morning with the snow and ice. Really! OK, it did, but I think the bruise on my bottom will heal soon.
Have a warm week!
