Cathi Utley is the general manager of the Hermann Advertiser-Courier.

Are you hungry? If so, you are in luck. Here’s a list: Chili Supper at St James Evangelical, Youth BBQ by the UPC Youth, Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner at Hermann Eagles, Seafood Buffet in Chamois and an “all you can eat” breakfast at Church of the Risen Savior. Whew, that’s a lot of eating. No . . . that’s a lot of good eating! Almost forgot. White Mule, as always, is ready to load your plate with juicy steaks and more! See the ads.
The day this paper comes out is the last day to register to vote for this spring’s election. Run to the Courthouse and to the county clerk to get registered today. Remember, if you don’t vote, don’t complain!
Speaking of which, come if you can to the “Meet the Candidates” night at Hermann High School next Tuesday. It begins at 7 and will help you be an informed voter. You’ll even have a chance to ask questions. See you there!
Calling all pre-kindergarten and kindergarten-aged children. Calling all of their parents! You don’t have to be Catholic to go to Catholic school. Face it, we have great public and private schools in Hermann. St. George can offer your child something the government has taken away from public schools, the right to bring God into the classroom. Tuition is more reasonable than you would think and screening appointments start March 20. See the ad and give them a call. What have you got to lose?
Have you penciled in the Derby Dog Race into your calendar? Always remember and never forget, the Derby Dog Race is the most fun you can have with wieners; small, large, fat, thin, old or young. Come and cheer on your favorite wiener!
County plat books are available. See the ad.
On to one of the most important activities for Hermann. The event is to benefit our local heroes and you know who they are. Our heroes are brave, strong and dedicated. The event however, consists of weak, small and creepy participants. Yes, it is the Hermann Fire Company’s Mouse Races. Love those fire fighters, but can’t stand mice. The only thing worse would be raccoon races. Question: How can such brilliant lifesavers have a good time with disgusting disease-ridden rodents? Oh, I should have read the ad better; alcohol is not provided but NOT prohibited. I get it. A few glasses of wine and I might tolerate a mouse. Not! Good cause, anyway.
Don’t forget to reserve your Easter Ham from Wurst Haus.
It’s almost time to file so if you haven’t already, there are two good tax return specialists in Hermann. There may be more but I do know that H&R Block and Henry’s Tax Service will help you if you’re running behind. And love that they’re local!
Congrats to Chamois boys’ basketball team. As of this writing, they are headed for the Final Four at State. This is the first time they have gone this far and I think everyone is so proud for them. Go, Pirates!!!
