I have to admit, I love football. It’s my favorite sport but baseball comes in a close second. And don’t the baseball Bearcats have lots to be proud of here at the end of the season? I remember when my son (who plays on the baseball team) was about 3 years old. In the middle of Save-A-Lot, for no reason, he belted out “and it’s one, two, three strikes you’re out. At the old, ball game”! I guess it’s in his blood. As it is in so many other members of the team. Go, Hermann Baseball!
Good news for the community . . .Legion Baseball starts soon. The American Legion is so faithful to the youth of America. Thanks for that and the fact that you served our nation! You are the best!
Special Olympics were last week and Missy Ash has once again made Hermann proud! She heads the event and gathers volunteers to make the Hermann event one of the best in the nation. The Lions, Masons and so many others spent their time helping. The trolley helped with transportation; the high school students helped by being a buddy to some Olympians and even our new superintendent was on hand to witness this great day. Way to go, Hermann!
Hermann Farm is open and they are expecting! The stork is circling the farm waiting to deliver a new Shire horse. How exciting!
Graduation is almost upon us. Take a look at the list of seniors still needing to be sponsored. Call us today and sponsor one. Only $71!
Maifest is just around the corner. I’m very excited to see what is going to happen with the new group of volunteers running the show this year. I’m sure it will be great and that reminds me of all the hours it takes to pull off a festival like Maifest. For years and years, the families of Miskel, Durham, Hartbauer and Meyer worked like the dickens to pull it off. Volunteers all, they are a remarkable part of our city’s history and volunteerism. Thanks!
We all love the red caboose on 1st Street. In fact, some 14 years ago when my family first moved to Hermann, my son was stung by a bee on that caboose. We still love it, though. Now there is a different caboose, a Loose Caboose. It’s across form Peoples Savings Bank where Mid-Missouri Office Supplies used to be. It is really cool in there but my favorite part is the secret room. Yes, there is a secret room perfect for bridal showers, birthday parties or just for hanging out. See the ad!
Don’t forget Mother’s Day this Sunday or you will be in a heap of trouble! Check out the Mother’s Day page in this issue. What about dinner at the Concert Hall, plants form Creekside, local gift shops are always a favorite to find incredible gifts and don’t forget gift certificates to almost any place!!!
Enjoy the final concert of the school year on Tuesday, May 15. It is a POP concert, so we can all drink our favorite pop while they play. NOT Popular pop songs will be on the agenda so make plans to come. See the ad. DO NOT bring a drink into the concert or the principal will have my hide. It was a joke, see, just a joke. Happy week!
