The Community Christmas Program is in full swing but still has many families that need “adoption.”
“We still have many families who need to be “adopted” and we have less than two three weeks until gift distribution takes place. I’m hoping people will sign up this week so we can ensure every child has at least a few gifts to open.” said Bartow Molloy, volunteer for the program.
The family “adoption” is where an individual or organization purchases all the gifts for the children in one family. The target would be to give each child at least 4 or 5 gifts. Just decide your budget or how many children you wish to support and call Malloy. She will provide you choices to match you with the family who will best suit your donation goals.
There are several ways to contribute — one is to “adopt” an entire family; one is to buy a gift identified on one of the many Christmas trees located around town (the library, The Fitness Source and Orscheln’s); and the last way is to donate toys or a cash donation to purchase gifts for the children.
Examples of the types of gifts needed are baby dolls and baby doll clothes, trucks, cars, Barbies, CDs, CD players, makeup for teenagers, hair brushes and hair ties, books, games, bikes and tricycles. Toy donations can be picked up by volunteers or you can drop off your donation at the distribution center (the old Pamida Building). Contact Bartow Molloy to arrange for pick-up or drop-off of donations.
All of the donations received by the Community Christmas Program are used to purchase items or gift cards for the children and all administrative activities are donated by volunteers. Contact Molloy if you wish to adopt a family, donate gifts or volunteer to Community Christmas this holiday season. Bartow’s number is 573-294-6242 or you can email her at email@example.com.
If you wish to have the gifts purchased for you by making a cash donation, make your check out to Gasconade County R-1 School District and mail it to:
