Gasconade R-1 Director Dot Schoennig will replace Craig Schannuth as one of the district’s two representatives on the board of the Hermann Regional Economic Development (HRED) agency.
The body was formed four years ago with the intention of working to stem the decrease in enrollment in the R-1 District by promoting economic development within the district that includes parts of four counties.
However, after much discussion and the development of plans, there is little tangible the agency can point to as success. R-1 Superintendent Tracey Hankins Thursday night acknowledged any significant progress. “They haven’t had the ‘big win,’ but they’re doing some good things behind the scenes,” Hankins said.
Schannuth has been a longtime member of the HRED board, but said he needs to step away because of the demands of his work schedule. Those conflicts have limited his involvement on the board in the past couple years, he said.
In addition to Schoennig succeeding Schannuth, incoming Superintendent Scott Smith is expected to take the seat that has has been the past three years by Hankins.
