Hermann cross country runners off to a good start

The Hermann High School and Middle School traveled to New Haven early last Saturday morning to participate in the New Haven Invitational cross country meet at the New Haven City Park. The men's varsity  5,000 meter run was a test of early season conditioning among peer runners in the region. Herman's squad  came in fourth at the event, out of a field of 14 other high schools. Herman placed behind first place Owensville, second place Father Tolton Regional Catholic School (FTR) and third place New Haven.

Men's Varsity 5000 meters 
Out of a field of 93 runners, the best time of the day went to senior Joseph Rethemeyer from New Haven, running the 5,000 meters in 17:34.77. 2nd went to senior Jacob Hatcher, from Dickson County with a time of 17:51.87, and third place went to Nathan Forck from FTR with a time of 18:04.11. Hermann runner Dalton Gleeson was less than 3 seconds behind with a time of 18:06.85.

Women's Varsity 5000 meters
Out of 12 schools participating, the Hermann women placed 8th, with Owensvill taking the top spot, followed by St. Dominic, New Haven and FTR.In a field of 109 runners, Hermann's Clara Scheible came in a very respectable 6th place, with a time of 22:37.92. Sophia Ashner from Owensville won the event with a time of 20:57.06. Her teammate Kendra Hults placed second at 21:47.78 and Allie Potter from Dickson County took the third spot at 21:52.81.

Junior Varsity 5000 meters
With 6 JV teams participating, Hermann placed 4th with a field of 58 runners. Garrett Wilmes from FTR took first place with 20:00.08, with teammate Zane Mey taking second with a time of 20:15.82.

Woody Heldt (11th) led the pack of Hermann runners with a time of 21:56.44.
Freshman Tavis Harris (12) finished within a gnat's breath with 21:56.82. 
Christian Means (28th) ran a 24:35.89
Daniel Gerloff (33rd) at 25:19.57
Kyle Buesking (34th) at 25:50.64

Men's Middle School 2,500 meters
Out of five teams of runners, Hermann placed 4th. Linn took the top spot, followed by second place Owensville and Union. Out of 46 runners, Jordan Geiss of Winfield placed first with a time of 9:30.45.Will Lauth of Owensville place second with a time of 9.49.24. Third was Trenton Burnett of Bland with aq time f 10:07.56.Trigg Lindahl was the first Hermann runner to cross the finish line in 8th place with a time of 10:30.46.

Women's Middle School 2,500 meters
The runner teams of Montgomery County, Winfield, Linn and Union took one through fourth places respectively. From a filed of 41 runners, Kiley Kukan from Winfield took first place with a time of 10:02.98, followed by Mikah Edwards from New Bloomfield at 10:02.30 and Kadence Berry in the third spot with a time of 10:09.32.
Hermann runners Katy Menke (8th) and Amelia Uthlaut (9th) had times of 10:57.33 and 10:58.54 respectively. Ariana Maddox of Hermann came in at 34th with a time of 16:04.40.
