With three Lady Bearcats scoring in double figures, Hermann’s Varsity girls team Monday night opened a defense of its home court with a 63-17 win over Bourbon.
The first-round victory of the Hermann Invitational Girls Tournament means Head Coach Todd Anderson’s team will face the New Haven Lady Shamrocks tonight in a semi-final contest. The winner will advance to Friday night’s Championship game.
New Haven defeated Owensville 60-41 in opening-night action.
In other first-night contests, top-seeded St. Clair put up 100 points to Wright City’s 13 while the Chamois Lady Pirates defeated Montgomery County 54-46.
The St. Clair-Chamois game will be held at 6 tonight in the HHS gym with the Hermann-New Haven matchup set for 7:30.
Pacing the Lady ‘Cats was senior Brooke Grosse, whose 16 points included a pair of 3-pointers. Her 2-for-2 night at the foul line was part of a near-perfect 9-of-10 free-throw performance by Hermann.
Also registering double figures in scoring were junior guard Allison Stiers with 14 and sophomore center Quincy Erickson with 13.
Joining in the scoring were senior forward Tess Schannuth and junior center Allison Williman with 6 each, junior forward Emma Godat with 4 and sophomore Megan Schneider and junior Caraline Brune with 2 points each.
The win moves the Lady Bearcats’ season mark to 14-3.
