The Lady Bearcats will take on Russellville Saturday in first-round action of the New Haven Softball Classic.
Head Coach Gary Leimkuehler will lead his squad into the contest at 9:45 a.m. on Lions Field, one of two diamonds used for the 8-team annual tournament that kicks off the fall softball season for several area high schools.
The host New Haven Lady Shamrocks will tangle with Hancock at 8 a.m., also on Lions Field.
On the other side of the creek, Bock Field will be the site of the 8 a.m. contest between the St. James Lady Tigers and the Lady Wildcats of Montgomery County.
At 9:45, on Bock Field, Belle will take on Calvary Lutheran.
Semi-final games on both the Championship and Consolation sides of the bracket will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Lions and Bock fields and at 12:45 p.m. on those days.
The 3rd-Place game will be held at 2:15 on Lions Field and the 7th-Place contest will be held at 3:45 p.m. on Bock Field.
Games will limited to 1 hour and 15 minutes with no inning started after that time unless the game is tied. There is no time limit for the Championship game.
A coin flip will determine the home team.
The 15-run and 10-run rules will apply and if a game ends early, the next game will start earlier than scheduled.
The concession stand offers a variety of food and drink items.
Admission to the Classic is $3 for adults, $2 for students.
