Eight months after MoDOT introduced a new word into the local vocabulary of transportation woes — a “slideoff” — a contract has been awarded to fix the particular problem.
Gene Haile Excavating will make repairs to the portion of Highway 100 West that was damaged by heavy rains in early May. The rains that pounded Gasconade County that week caused the slideoff under Highway 100 just west of the intersection of highways 100 and J east of the city of Gasconade.
Highway 100 West was shut down for a couple days with Hermann-bound traffic from Highway J routed onto Highway F east to Highway 19 South.
The contract announced last Friday is for $125,538. Work is scheduled to begin after Feb. 5 and be must be finished by Friday, March 9, according to MoDOT.
The state transit agency will be issuing advisories to the public about the project.
