Junior Chet Moeckli led the Hermann Varsity Bearcats back into the win column Monday night in the 43-42 victory over the Cuba Wildcats.
Moeckli scored 14 points to lead his team in the non-conference matchup on the ‘Cats’ home court.
The win snaps a 3-game losing skid and puts the Bearcats at 3-5 going into Thursday night’s home contest against Wright City.
Monday night’s game saw Head Coach Josh Vinyard’s Bearcats battle back from 1st-quarter and halftime deficits to finish the 3rd period tied at 35.
The defensive final period saw Hermann’s Trent Anderson play big in the lane, scoring 6 of the team’s 8 points to pull out the 1-point win.
Joining Moeckli in the scoring were Anderson with 10; Rhet Scheidegger wioh 9 (all on 3-pointers); Sam Holland with 6 (also, on 3-pointers); and Aaron Overkamp and Andrew Schannuth with 2 points each.
In the Junior Varsity contest, Cuba scored in double digits three of the four quarters to post a 39-20 win over the ‘Cats.
The Hermann JV squad’s scoring was spread out among six players: Brody Fredrick, Carter Hemeyer and Boyd Phillips each had 4 points while Chase McKague and Holden Ash each had 3. Jon Utley posted 2 points.
