Vernon “Jake” Ham, 81, of rural Montgomery City, died on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.
He was born on February 14, 1928, in McKittrick to Elton B. Ham and Leona Jones Ham.
He graduated from Montgomery City High School in 1946. He worked for A.P. Green in Mexico for several years before leaving for the Air Force.
Mr. Ham was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from September, 1948 until August, 1952. When he returned from the Air Force he started farming.
On October 13, 1956, he married Florence H. Benz in Jefferson City. Together they farmed many years until they retired.
Mr. Ham was the past president of the Board of Directors of Producers Grain Co., and served as the association secretary/treasurer of High Point Cemetery for many years. He was a member of the Antique Airplane Association; a member of the B-36 Bombers Association; and a member of the American Legion Post 0277.
Mr. Ham is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Florence H. Benz Ham of the home; two children, Terry Neal Ham and wife, Deanna, of Florence, Ky., and Lorri Lynn Seidel of St. Thomas; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Perry Seidel; and two sisters, Frances Morris and Margie Chadwick.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 29, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City with Rev. Ed Hankinson officiating. Interment with military honors was in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City.

Delphin Wayne Linn, 80, of Jonesburg, died on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at the Jonesburg Nursing & Rehab Center in Jonesburg.
He was born March 15, 1929 in Lake Lillian, Minn., to the parents of Kermit Linn and Helen Olsen Linn. He lived in Lake Lillian for the first 30 years of his life.
He married Augusta Wright, who preceded him in death. They moved to St. Joseph, Mo. where Mr. Linn ran his own sheet metal shop until 1981 when they moved to Mesa, Ariz. They lived there for over 20 years.
Mr. Linn is survived by one son, Gary Wayne Linn of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Adele Denise Storkson and husband, Pastor Sam Storkson, of Montgomery City; four grandchildren: and two sisters, Katherine Clark and Suzie Dick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Augusta Wright Linn.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Lisa Lynn LaRue Schlanker, 40, died on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at her home in rural Wellsville.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. The Rev. John Brumagin will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the Schlanker Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Montgomery County R-II Scholarship Fund in memory of Lisa Schlanker.
