Mayor Bob Koerber addressed the Board of Aldermen and interested citizens last week concerning the condition of the City of Hermann’s streets. With the help of City Administrator Mark Wallace, a summary of facts was presented and preceded a discussion on how to finance the maintenance of the town’s streets.
Back in April of 2016, the City had to make a decision of whether to spend the next two-years budget on 18th Street due to it’s importance to the hospital, police station and nursing home or fix other smaller, but poor-condition streets in town that don’t need storm and sanitary sewer, gutter and curb repairs. The decision was made for the latter option for 2016, 2017 and 2018. The mayor says we are now faced with the repair of other streets, the most important being 18th Street.
