Residents and patrons within the Gasconade County R-1 School District can offer their comments on the characteristics they would like to see in a new superintendent during a focus group session tomorrow night at Hermann Middle School.
Brent Underwood, a former public school administrator working as a consultant to the R-1 Board of Directors in its search for a new top administrator, will take the comments as part of the search project. The focus group meeting is set for 5 p.m. in the Middle School Library.
After the focus group session, Underwood will meet with the R-1 Board in closed session to discuss the search effort to that point.
At the board’s Feb. 8 session, Underwood said he expected to receive about 20 applicants for the post begin vacated at the end of the school year by Superintendent Tracey Hankins.
Hankins is retiring after 30 years in public education, both as a classroom teacher and an administrator.
The R-1 Board hopes to have a new superintendent hired by mid-March.
