To prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, Hermann Area District Hospital and its Hermann Fitness Source are participating in American Heart Month.
You can join them at Hermannhof Winery on Friday, Feb. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the 10th Annual Red Heart Walk (snow date: Wednesday, Feb. 14).
You will take a 0.6-mile walk in downtown Hermann and learn about heart health by following the red heart signs along the way. This can be the first step toward improving your health. A healthier you will be more energetic and have reduced stress levels.
Afterward, you can enjoy a heart healthy brown bag lunch prepared by the Messmer Center, which includes a healthy wrap, piece of fruit and bottled water. Your $5 dollar donation for the heart healthy lunch will go to benefit the Hermann Food Pantry.
Call the Hermann Area District Hospital Rehab Department at (573) 486–2154, or the Hermann Fitness Source at (573) 486-2251 to sign up for a lunch. If you do not want a lunch, just come and walk for your health.
Also, the first 20 participants that day will receive a hand-knitted red hat, donated by Kathy Wright who works at the Hermann Fitness Source.
