Chad Allen Schneider was winner of the first baby of the year contest at the Herman Area Hospital.

Two suspects were taken into custody after thefts at two Hermann business locations. A small kerosene heater, valued at $10, was taken at the Eberlin IGA Foodliner Monday morning. Also a truck battery and six truck jacks were stolen at the Gasco Concrete Company site Friday night the values of the items taken was reported at $167.

The St. George Dragon’s snapped the North Callaway Thunderbirds winning streak at 11 games here Friday night as they handed the visitors a 59 – 46 lacing on the St. George court.

The New Haven gunners tripped the Ken Boyer Ford cagers 72 – 70 in double overtime on the St. George High School Court, Sunday afternoon.

Hermann’s unbeaten Bearcats extended their seasons winning streak to 13 games here Tuesday night as they whipped a strong union wildcat team 66 – 55 in a Four Rivers conference battle on the HHS Court.


The Hermann Lions Club will serve pancakes and sausages Saturday to raise money for scholarships for two seniors from the local high schools. Proceeds from the “feastival” will be used to set up to $100 scholarship funds.

According to figures released by the Missouri State Conservation Commission, 336 deer were killed in Gasconade County during the 1958 season. The state total of 13,647 a new record for the deer season.


Circuit Clerk CW Toedtmann has reported a total of 2440 hunting and fishing licenses sold in Gasconade County during 1943, a decrease of 208 from the previous year.



Robert L Huxol, owner of Huxol’s garage on Fourth Street and the local motion picture show, has purchased a property on First Street where he will erect a fire proof garage.

Ferry boat, Pin Oak, came off its perch at the Gasconade two days  last week and ferried between Hermann and Loutre Island Friday and Saturday. Cold weather sent the boat back to Its resting place Saturday night.

The first mask ball of the season, sponsored by the Sharpshooters’ Society , will be held at the Concert Hall Saturday night.
