The Herman Fire Company answered two alarms in the past week. The firemen were called to the home west of McKittrick Thursday night of last week when a short electrical wire threatened damage to appliances and the home. Wednesday morning, the firefighters extinguished a chimney fire in Rhineland.

The Herman municipal library board of directors reports a check made at a meeting at the library Thursday evening revealed many delinquent books. Since last May, the board reports about 40 books are over due in comparison with 30 books for the same period last year.

About 30 cars of the Missouri-Pacific freight train were derailed east of should morning late last Thursday afternoon.

The City of Herrmann has filed a petition in Gasconade County Circuit Court for a declaratory judgment to annex a 240-acre unincorporated area at the present south city limits.
