The old courthouse is being dismantled and teams are busy hauling away the ground from the hill. About 25 men are employed in the work of leveling and preparing the grounds. The building is estimated to be done in about 40 days.

Action to eliminate the objectionable odor emanating at the City of Hermann’s sewage treatment plant on Reserve Street was instituted by the City Council at its monthly meeting at the German School building Monday night in approving the purchase of chemicals manufactured for that purpose.

About 300 parents and fans flocked into the Hermann High School gym Sunday to congratulate the Ladycats on their victory at state and to witness the presentation of the championship girl’s basketball trophy to the school. Young man who will turn 26 in 1997 will be reaching an important milestone, according to the selective service system. Beginning on January 1, 1997, men who were required to register with selective service in 1989 will be turning 26 and will no longer be eligible for induction should a draft be reinstituted.
