There never was a better sledding in this part of the country no-matter what the oldest inhabitant may say. The blacksmiths are busy shoeing horses and ironing sleds, and they look upon the snow as an excellent institution. Every man, woman and child should try to get some enjoyment out of the snowy season.

95 years ago
Weather on Christmas Day this year will be the mildest of any Christmas in 33 years. The maximum temperature reached 64 degrees. This was exceeded in 1889 when the Mercury reached 71 on Christmas Day.

Three positions for final hearing in the matter of naturalization are filed for hearing at the coming term of circuit court. The candidates for citizenship are the Rev. R. Schmiechen, who was born in Bavaria, Germany, and was resided in America since 1905; the Rev. Fr. Walter Magnien born in Schlessingen, Germany, and resided in America since 1895; and Frederick Schmidt of Owensville route, a native of Lippe-Detmold, Germany, who came here with his parents in 1855.
