The Columbia Handbell Ensemble returns to Hermann for the 12th straight year to present a Winter Concert in the sanctuary of St. George Catholic Church at 128 W. 4th St. on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The ensemble was proud to be a featured choir in a performance at the University of Massachusetts last June.
For this concert, titled “Peace,” the group will perform several well-known works that remind us that peace is possible even in a fractured and hurting world. Cellist Adrian Gomez joins the ensemble on several of these selections.
The group also will play Handel’s famous (and crazy fun to play) Passacalgia, followed by the Vaughn-Williams Fantasia on Greensleeves.
The remainder of the concert will feature some new seasonal tunes, some very familiar holiday songs, the jubilant Ukrainian Bell Carol, and an always popular sing-along.
The concert is co-sponsored by Peoples Savings Bank and the Hermann Arts Council.
By arriving 15 minutes prior to the concert, you can enjoy a demonstration and explanation of what you will be seeing and hearing at the concert.
