Stiers leads Lady Bearcats to tourney title game against New Haven

Junior guard Allison Stiers connected from long range Wednesday night to lead the Hermann Varsity Bearcats to a lopside win over the Clopton Lady Hawks, setting up a Montgomery County Tournament Championship battle this weekend with rival New Haven.

Stiers went 4-for-4 from beyond the 3-part arc Wednesday night in scoring 17 points to lead the ‘Cats to a 62-21 win in a semi-final round of the Montgomery County Invitational Girls Tournament.

In the other semi-final contest, the New Haven Lady Shamrocks had the lead, gave it up and then rallied to defeat the Bowling Green Lady Bobcats.

Hermann (2nd seed) and New Haven (1st seed) will face off for the tourney title at 6 p.m. Saturday.

In other tournament action, the 5th-seeded Hermann Varsity Bearcats will play tonight against top-seeded Montgomery County at 5:30 in the Montgomery County Invitational Boys Tournament and the Hermann JV Lady Bearcats will take on the Washington Lady Blue Jays in a semi-final contest at 6 in the Hermann JV Girls Tournament.
