Varsity Bearcats edge Dutchmen on Scheidegger shot

Following his jump shot paid off for junior guard Rhet Scheidegger. After collecting his the rebound of his missed jumper, he put in the basket that proved the game winner Friday night against the Owensville Dutchmen.
The 38-36 win pushed the Hermann Varsity Bearcats’ season mark to 8-13.
The Bearcats’ contest in Owensville was part of a Varsity boys’-girls’ doubleheader.
The Lady Bearcats easily handled their rivals to claim the Four Rivers Conference contest. See the related story.

Leading the Bearcats’ attack Friday night was junior Chet Moeckli, who scored 16 points. Sophomore center Trent Anderson added 12 while Scheidegger registered 7 points and Boyd Phillips contributed 3.
Head Coach Josh Vinyard’s Varsity boys were scheduled to play Tuesday night in Pacific and at home Friday night against the Union Wildcats.
Next week’s games against St. James and New Haven will complete the regular-season contests with District Tournament action set for Feb. 17-24.
