The Hermann Bearcats defeated the Chamois Pirates 47-33 last Friday in a non-conference Osage County R-2 game in the Chamois High School gym. From the tip-off, it was obvious the Bearcats were working with a different game plan. Defensively, they pressed—hard. They backed up the Pirates in their own half of the court, making it hard for them to get down court and interrupting their tempo.
“I thought we made a lot of progress on our press,” said Bearcat Head Coach Josh Vinyard. “It translated into a lot of turnovers for them, but didn’t lead to easy points.”
It was a fairly low-scoring game, with Trent Anderson leading the offense with 15 points, followed by Chet Moeckli with 13. Rhett Scheidegger scored seven and Holden Ash three points. The team shot 58 percent for the night and there were only seven points scored in the third period.
