Hermann’s Korinna Bickmeyer drives the ball up the court against a Rolla defender.

Fueling a strong 4th quarter performance by the Varsity Lady Bearcats, sophomore Quincy Erickson played big inside to lead Hermann in a come-from-behind win Friday night over the Rolla Lady Bulldogs 55-47.
Down by 6 at the end of the 3rd frame, Head Coach Todd Anderson saw his team tighten up on defense, holding Rolla to the fewest points (8)of any quarter on the night while kicking into a higher gear and scoring 22 points in the final set of minutes to secure the non-conference win.
Along with Erickson, junior guard Allison Stiers also scored 15 points to share the game-high scoring.
Two other Lady Bearcats finished the night scoring in double figures — seniors Brooke Grosse with 13 and Tess Schannuth with 10.
Junior Allison Williman came off the bench to register 2 points to round out the scoring.
Hermann’s win pushes the Lady Bearcats’ season mark to 6-0.
They were scheduled to take to the home court last night in a non-league contest with the Washington Lady Blue Jays.
On Thursday night, Hermann is scheduled to travel to St. Clair to open play in the Four Rivers Conference against the Lady Bulldogs.
On Saturday, the Lady Bearcats are scheduled to take part in the Missouri National Guard Shootout in Jefferson City.
In the Rolla matchup, Schannuth had a good night sweeping the boards — she picked up 8 rebounds, 5 on the defensive end of the floor. Hermann collected 31 rebounds on the night with 22 of them coming on the defensive end.
Sophomore Megan Schneider also did well during her time on the floor. While not scoring, she did collect a half dozen rebounds.
Playing under control was a factor in the Lady ‘Cats’ comeback victory. The team committed only 11 turnovers in the game.
The JV contest featured a repeat of the week-earlier Championship of the Hermann JV Girls Tournament.
Friday night’s game had less scoring but was almost as heart-pounding as the tourney title game.
Head Coach Andy Emmons’ JV squad came out of a 22-22 tie at the end of the 3rd quarter to outscore Rolla 12-8 in the final frame for the 34-30 victory.
The tourney Championship game was won by Hermann 42-40.
In this faceoff, Macie Witthaus topped the Lady ‘Cats with 8 points. Joining in the scoring were Grace Winkelmann, Hannah Grosse and Elly Krueger, all with 6; and Korinna Bickmeyer, Maggie Kotthoff, Megan Schneider and Allison Williman, all with 2.
