Bearcats Win 2, Fall to Owensville

On Monday the 29th the Bearcat baseball team made short work of the Van-Far Indians beating them 18-0 in 3 innings. In a game that was originally scheduled to be played at Van-Far’s home field but was moved to Hermann City Park due to wet conditions. On only 4 hits the Hermann team managed 18 runs due to the Indians' problems finding the strike zone. Walking 14 times and adding hits from Seth Wilkerson, TJ Racherbaumer, and a pair from Brock Shockley the Bearcats scored 18 runs in just three innings. With MSHSAA’s mercy rule it only took 3 innings for the game to be complete. Ethan Towery tossed a three inning perfect game facing just 9 batters to get the win. The JV Bearcats also picked up their first victory of the year in their first game with a 10-0 win.

Wednesday evening the Bearcats traveled to Silex for a Varsity / JV contest. Hermann runners continued to cross the plate one after another. The Bearcats managed 17 runs in a 5 inning mercy rule game against the Owls. This time the Hermann team did it with the bats banging out 14 hits. Kenny Hoener III and Parker Anderson each had 3 hits, picking up 2 hits a piece were Cameron Michel, Ethan Towery.and Reese Rehmert. Seth Wilkerson and TJ Racherbaumer each added one hit with TJ’s being a 2-run homer. Towery and Kenny Hoener combined to hold the Owls to 1 run on 3 hits. Towery again picked up the win. The JV picked up a 2-1 victory.

Monday evening the Bearcats headed south to Owensville for a Four Rivers Conference Contest with the Dutchmen. It took 8 innings and a wild game but the Dutchmen out lasted the Bearcats 6-5.  Hermann had 4 hits, one each by Hoener, Michel, Anderson , and Rane Rehmert while Hoener, Racherbaumer, Michel, and Gavin Moore picked up RBIs. Due to darkness the JV only played 1 scoreless inning.

Hermann will travel to Cuba on Tuesday, host Pacific the same day in a home Freshmen game, and host Pacific for a Varsity / JV Four Rivers contest on Thursday. The JV Bearcats will participate in a tournament  on Friday and Saturday.
