About 20 kids got together to build a Maifest float called “Cuckoo Krazy.” It was the anchor of the Children’s Parade and the brainchild of Tavin Hopkins. The kids inside the cuckoo clock would come out of the clock on demand, coming alive with cuckoo birds. There were also two traditional German dancers, Carter Gerlemann and Aspen Meyer, representing the miniature dancers that exited the clock on the hour, and when the chiming stopped, they would retreat back into the clock. The Children’s Parade began at Gutenberg Street and ended at Historic Hermann Museum at 4th and Schiller. The float also reappeared in the Maifest Parade on Sunday.
