Pea Ridge cultivates a holiday tradition

Thanksgiving turkeys weren’t even in the oven yet, but already, families made the drive last Wednesday on a cool, sunny afternoon to Pea Ridge Forest to pick out a Christmas tree. Not just any tree—their Christmas tree and many have been coming to these river hills for years.

This holiday destination is now operated by brothers Mike and Scott Rood, who took over the business from their parents, when it was solely a Christmas tree farm. It now includes a wholesale nursery and agri-tourism business and they continue to receive accolades for their tree stock. Pea Ridge Forest sent six trees to be installed in the Mo. Governor’s mansion earlier this week, just in time for Christmas season decorating.
