Foster, who was to be hanged last Friday, obtained through his counsel F Steward, a reprieve of a few days until his case could be brought before the Supreme Court. About 2000 persons had assembled at Warrenton to witness the execution, and were sorely disappointed when Sheriff Howard announced to them that the execution would not take place that day. If the judgment of the Circuit Court is affirmed by the Supreme Court, it will be necessary to re-sentence foster before the execution can take place.

Straying notice taken up by Elsbeth Kraettle of Richland Township, in Gasconade County and posted before the undersigned, justice of the peace within and for the County of Gasconade on the eighth day of January 1876 one straight to wit: one brown mayor, about 17 years old, 15 hands high; white spot on the four head, the left for and hind feet white, black mane and tail. Saddle marks on both sides of the back of praise – $15.

Just as we go to press we are informed that Squire Schwab's whole frame house and barroom at Morrison burned down last Tuesday night. Cause of the fire unknown. Nothing saved, except a few chairs loss partly covered by insurance. Particulars will be given next week.

 The Shauf railroad bill has come to life again. The gentleman seems to be under the impression that he will not get it, but he says that it will cost $100 and it shall cost $100 more before he gives it up. He's digging for coal, and if he makes any discovery, he will send it to Hermann. It will probably be a good thing if the railroad would run from here to Hermann, if it only were a narrow gauge.

Henry L Heckmann of the Hermann Distillery Company has rented the St. Charles Hall and will open a first-class saloon.

The Knights of Pythias will celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the order with a banquet and ball at the White House, Wednesday night.

1921 100 Years ago

A dance, exclusively for married folks, took place at the Concert Hall, Saturday evening. It was an invitational affair and lasted until 5:00 AM.

The reopening of the blacksmith shop at Bay brings business and life to the Second Creek metropolis.

When Pres. Wilson retires from office he can probably point to the fact that the interest on the national debt is considerably higher than the debt itself was when he assumed control of national affairs.
