Girls begin season with win over Tolton

The Hermann varsity basketball Ladycats have started their 2020-'21 campaign on the right foot, with a 58-34 victory over the Tolton Blazers on Monday, Nov. 23, in Columbia.

Grace Winkelmann led the team with 18 points, making six of 12 field goals (one three-pointer) and sinking five of six free throw attempts. Grace Godat and Holly Heldt each had 10 points.

Winkelmann led on defense with 10 rebounds, while Kaylyn Powers had seven boards. Winkelmann and Powers each blocked a shot.

Due to a possible COVID exposure, Hermann Activities Director Todd Anderson said Wellsville was unable to play against the Ladycats on Monday night in the Montgomery Tournament. Instead, Hermann will move to the winner's side of the tourney bracket and play the winner of Clopton/New Haven at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
