Mighty Kingdom Academy
to open Aug. 23
Mighty Kingdom Academy, which will present a Christ-centered learning environment for children, opens for classes Aug. 23 in Hermann.
The academy will be located in the Bavarian Hills Plaza, in the former Chinese restaurant space. An open house is planned for noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27.
The academy will provide learning that aims to foster discipleship and present skills and knowledge necessary for a student's future success.
It will feature a biblically-based curriculum for those in pre-kindergarten to the fifth grade. Its ambition is to create lifelong learners. Students will be met at their ability and encouraged to excel on a spiritual, social, emotional, and academic level.
Academy head Megan Manning said she had been investigating the possibility of home schooling for her daughters, and discovered that a fellow group of parents were interested in organizing an academy. The preparations have been ongoing since the end of May.
"God has moved mountains," Manning said, adding that word has spread over the internet. A board of directors will direct the academy. The calendar will be aligned with that of the Hermann school district, including off days.
