The Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Trappers Association will offer a beginners trapping clinic on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3-4, at the Whetstone Creek Conservation Area at Williamsburg.
The free clinic is open to anyone age 10 and up, with a class size limit of 25.
The clinic will start at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 and cover regulations, traps, trap accessories, fur handling, and related topics for beginners. The clinic will end at approximately noon Oct. 4. Meals will be provided on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
This will primarily be an outdoor event, with CDC guidelines followed in light of the coronavirus. The class will do trapping in the conservation area, and students will have the opportunity to catch several different species.
Students must register by Thursday, Oct. 1, by calling Tom Westhoff at (573) 289-0242.
