Forty inscribed bricks honoring veterans were installed at Hermann Veterans Memorial Park on Thursday, April 30.
The bricks are inscribed at fundraising Brick LLC in Hermann’s industrial park and are installed by Gleeson’s Landscaping of Hermann, under the direction of the Veterans Park Committee.
At a meeting of the Committee on March 12, a schedule for installing commemorative bricks for the foreseeable future was established.
Bricks will be installed twice a year, the first shortly before Memorial Day and the second shortly before Veterans Day in November. Deadlines for submitting brick orders to accommodate the installation schedule are April 1 and September 15.
Order forms are available at the City of Hermann office on Jefferson Street, the three banks in Hermann, Hermann Visitor Center, Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, and Gasconade County Historical Society Archives & Records Center.
Recognition of the service of veterans who served during times of war or times of peace, living or deceased, from near or far is a project that will continue indefinitely, according to the committee.
The Committee also announces that name plates removed from the original WWII monument are still available. Family members of Hermann WWII veterans whose names were on the monument may contact Jim Schutt at (573) 252-4250 to arrange for picking up the plates.
