The Advertiser-Courier received the following announcement on Friday from Gary Leabman, City of Hermann Caboose Museum Committee Co-Chair with Paul Eubanks:
Paul Eubanks and I are sad to announce the postponement of the Caboose Museum Dedication and Grand Opening on July 4, 2020.
Covid-19 is the reason. Gasconade County has been fortunate to only have two cases, both of which saw recovery. Yet the risk of further outbreaks seems too great to have hanging over what we had hoped to be a joyous celebration.
We aren’t going to suggest another date at this time, but we will eventually have the program described below which is part of our grant agreement with the MIssouri Humanities Council.
At this time, Paul and I wish to thank our all volunteer committee, all of our sponsors, proposed guest speakers, and the City of Hermann for helping this two-year project get so close. We still expect to finish the Caboose Museum on schedule by July 4, and will work with the City to have a quiet, soft opening.
