The pandemic is already victimizing several of Hermann's most popular and traditional Christmastime activities this season.
The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Children's Lantern Parade, which was scheduled for Friday, Nov. 27, has been cancelled due to the virus. The Spirit of CHRISTmas concert -- which was slated for Saturday, Dec. 12 -- will not be held this year. The chamber made the decisions after consulting with the Gasconade County Health Department.
The Sounds of Starkenburg concert -- which had been planned for Saturday, Nov. 28 -- has also been cancelled. Kristkindl Market has also been cancelled, in an announcement made earlier this year.
Yet several other events that occur during the holiday time in the community remain on schedule, according to the chamber.
Events that are still being planned are: Shop Local Saturday, Saturday, Nov. 28; Mini Christmas tree contest/display, Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6; and the Third Annual Cookie Walk, on tap for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 18-19.
