Hermann resident Clarice Burton found that Christmas came early this year, thanks to Chad Grannemann, and his company, Grannemann’s Sales and Service. One of his men were on a service call to Clarice’s home and found the 30-year-old cooling and heating system dangerous and in need of replacement. That’s a major expenditure for someone on a fixed income, so Clarice and her daughter Patricia Maitland put a pencil to the challenge to replace the unit. With winter coming on, Carol Graue, with Grannemann’s, spoke with the homeowners about a special Lennox program called “Feel the Love.”
She explained that individuals and local organizations in participating areas could nominate families or individuals in their communities in need of assistance. Recipients are selected based on a variety of criteria, including physical, mental, or social disabilities; financial challenges; job loss; military service; and community service. But beyond that, each recipient has one thing in common: they always put others first.
Past nominees include community figures such as teachers, firefighters and volunteers; families facing hard times; veterans; senior citizens living in older homes; and people impacted by natural disasters.
On the first weekend in October, several participating Lennox dealers install new, high-efficiency Lennox gas furnaces or HVAC systems for selected nominees. Lennox provides the furnaces at no cost, and the dealers and their employees donate their labor and installation materials.
“The Feel The Love Program gives us an opportunity to take the expertise we have in the HVAC field and give back to the community,” said Chad Granneman. “I felt like Clarice was the perfect candidate.”
“Mom prayed for 30 days,” said daughter Patricia Maitland. “When we found out mom was selected, we decided we weren’t going to tell her—we wanted to surprise her.”
“I was in my nightgown and in bed, when they (Chad) came over to tell me,” said Clarice. “If I’d have known he was coming, I would have gotten dressed!”
“She was so excited, she was actually shaking,” said Patricia.
Installation of the new HVAC system just took a day with Grannemann’s installers and the thermostat was was ready to respond to Clarice’s choice of heating or cooling her home.
Going into the winter, Clarice says she has peace of mind.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever won.”
