It was all about fluffy pancakes with syrup last Sunday morning on 1st Street. The Hermann Lions Club held their annual February Pancake Day at the Hermann Wurst Haus. Lion Mike Sloan, owner of the Hermann Wurst Haus, allowed the service club to run his kitchen for the morning breakfast fundraiser. The transition from brats and sauerkraut to pancakes, sausages and eggs wasn’t hard to do since the Hermann Wurst Haus holds a breakfast buffet every weekend, anyway.
The Lions had sold over 200 meals by 10:30 a.m., which is a good turnout according to Lions Club President Judy LeBrell.
“The venue here is wonderful,” said Judy. “You come in here and you’re hungry, because it smells so good.”
Vistors to Hermann enjoyed breakfast as well as local Hermannites.
“They support us well,” said Judy. “Every penny the Lions make goes back into the community.”
Those projects include a high school scholarship, Crusade for Cancer, Boy Scouts, Horsin’ Around Town, Kid’s Sight, a sight leader dog program, among others.
