April 5 filing ends
with R-1, city races
Several election contests have taken shape on the April 5 ballot, with voters casting choices for the Gasconade County R-1 school board and two races for Hermann city offices.
Filing for positions for the city of Hermann wrapped up on Dec. 28 as follows: mayor, incumbent Bruce Cox vs. challenger Robert O. Sitton; Ward One, Susan Lenger (unopposed); and Ward Two, challengers Ash Geers and Clayton Newell. Incumbent Ward Two Alderman David Faerber did not file for re-election to the seat. Incumbent City Collector Carol Schluss will be running unopposed in this election.
The R-1 school board race features two open seats, currently filled by incumbents Dorothy "Dot" Schoening and Tim Schulte, both of whom have filed for re-election. They will be joined on the ballot by challenger Debra Weingarth.
Tim Puchta filed for re-election to his seat on the Hermann Area District Hospital board of directors. The hospital reported no other filings for this election.
