HERMANN, MO – Stonebridge Hermann, a skilled nursing and assisted living community with 68 residents, has received confirmation that 27 residents and 17 employees have tested positive for COVID-19.  One of the residents has been hospitalized and the other 26 are being cared for in isolation in their rooms.  All positive employees are in quarantine in their homes and will not return to work until they meet the CDC return-to-work guidelines for healthcare providers.

All residents and staff were tested earlier this week after two employees tested positive away from work.  Additional test results are still being received, and additional testing will take place soon to identify any false positives and confirm that residents and employees originally testing negative remain negative.  All test results are being promptly reported to the Gasconade County Health Department, the Missouri Division of Health and Senior Services and to all infected residents and their families.

“We are moving all positive residents into a separate area of our building and following all guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), and the Gasconade County Health Department to contain the spread of the virus,” said Craig Workman. spokesperson for Stonebridge Hermann.   “The health and safety of our residents is our highest priority, and we are working diligently to continue meeting the health and personal needs of all our residents.”

Stonebridge Hermann has issued N95 respirators to all staff members, and additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been provided to the facility. In addition, non-essential healthcare personnel are no longer entering the facility and resident health assessments are being conducted multiple times per day to  monitor vital signs including oxygen saturation, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration rate and body temperature.  The facility has also contracted with a specialized outside contractor to disinfect and sanitize the entire campus including equipment and furniture facilities using hospital-grade disinfectant and sanitizer.

Additional staff are being sent to Stonebridge Hermann from other Stonebridge facilities around the state to assist and supplement the Hermann staff.  These additional caregivers will assist with health assessments, resident care, documentation and related activities.  Before returning to their facilities, these caregivers will be tested for coronavirus and remain in quarantine until negative test results are received. Stonebridge Hermann is also providing additional pay to its Hermann employees and these sister facility employees.

Stonebridge Hermann recently received the Bronze Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and the National Center For Assisted Living in recognition of its overall quality and performance, and currently has a 5-Star quality rating from the  Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

“We appreciate the patience and understanding that our residents and their families have shown this week as we work through this difficult and stressful situation,” Workman added.  “We will provide regular updates through our website and direct communications as the situation changes.”
