Rain, rain, go away. But why? I’ve had several merchants tell me that this last week of Oktoberfest was very successful. Maybe down from the weekend before but still busy. Thanks to everyone that makes Hermann a great place to visit.
Fun stuff going on this Sunday. You can have a wonderful sausage dinner at Zion-St. Peters church and then run to the Hermann High School chorus concert in the afternoon. See the ads but gosh, doesn’t that sound like fun?
In case you haven’t heard, CBD is the new craze. My mother, who recently pasted, used it to help her with pain. CBD is derived directly from the hemp plant. A trained health professional can answer any questions you have. Berlener Healthmart carries it (see the ad on page 2) and so does Hermann Family Drug. Strange but if my mom used it, I may give it a try.
Some odd things going on around town. As I’m writing the long distance in town is out. Our good neighbors at Strassner Furniture said they would call to see what the problem was. She was promptly told all lines were busy and for her to hold for the next available operator but reminded her she was a valued customer and they appreciated her business. After 2 hours, 20 minutes and 28 seconds she decided she wasn’t really a valued customer and hung up. This paper prints Tuesday night. I hope the lines are up!
Another strange but really nice thing happened today. At the Casey’s convenience store a man pulled up for gas. The manager noticed that he had been sitting there for a long time. He just sat there. She went out to see about him. He was diabetic and needed some sugar ASAP. The manager ran into the store grabbed some chocolate and called 911. All ended well. Here’s to you everyday citizens who watch out for each other in this great little town of ours!
Cross Country is over and oh, my gosh did they ever do well. Softball is over and they fought til the end. Volleyball is going strong and is eyeing districts and beyond. That brings us to football. I personally feel like the Bearcats were “done dirty” last week but I am not a sports professional. All I know is that some questionable things happened and our guys got hurt. Here’s a warning; the Hermann Varsity Football team is fired up. You don’t mess with their brothers. Sam Hurst was injured but his voice isn’t broken. He has the loudest most electrifying “D,D,D Defense” that gets our Bearcat players going. Watch out Friday night because the Bearcats will have their claws out ready for victory!
In the meantime, rain and more rain. Maybe a little snow. If you need me, I’ll be holed up on my couch watching Lifetime Christmas movies
