Cathi's Corner

A spirited time was had by all at the tailgate extravaganza on Friday night. Who says a little rain can keep a Bearcat from having fun? The school gave out free water and hot dogs, corn hole was being played, Sugar Momma’s and the police depart were handing out cotton candy as well as lots of games, lots of prizes.

Then we all went outside for the ball game. Noah led the way and the Ark ended up staying the entire game. The Bearcats were in great spirits and the wet crowd cheered them on. The cheerleaders and dance team put on great shows at half time and then it was time to play in the water again for a super 3rd and 4th quarters.

The Bearcats were hot and proud. The rain didn’t seem to bother them but it sure bothered me! I left in the 2nd quarter to run home and change my clothes and jacket and dry out my camera. Thanks to Stephanie McKague for thinking I looked sad and pathetic in the rain and brought an umbrella over. She stood next to me covering my camera for the rest of the game. Friends are a blessing, especially in the rain.

During the rain and the fun was a very serious service honoring a great Hermannite. Read the story in this week’s paper. Dave Schulte will always be a Hermann Hero.

First Friday is this weekend. If you have not had a chance to enjoy yet, please do. You will be surprised what a delightful activity it is. See the ad.

As you read this, the volleyball team has played it first game. I’m writing this on Monday so I have no idea how the game went. I’m betting they started out the season with a big victory. Go Bearcats!

Please note the “heart” in this week’s paper. Didn’t see it? Look around the pages. If you find it, fill out the form in the classified pages and send it in. You could win a $10.00 gift certificate to one of our fine local grocery stores.

Thanks Hermann Area District Hospital for reaching out to the area. I know the hospital would like you to spend the gift certificate on healthy food. Fruits, veggies, maybe some chicken or fish but…the gift certificate doesn’t limit you to healthy food. I say, if you win, get some healthy food but why not a bag of chips to go with it? (don’t tell them I suggested that).

Just look for the hospital heart hidden in the newspaper each week and enter to WIN!
